There's no place like home....

No comments:
Today has been a really hectic day... First of all the clocks went back which REALLY confused me and my family came to visit :) I was up at about 8 o'clock this morning (which was 7 o' clock in new time) so that I would have enough time to cook my lasagne. I used a recipe recommended by my boyfriend's mum and it was absolutely YUMMY :D. Bear in mind I was cooking for 9 people (!) so adjust quantities as required.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 packets of egg lasagne
  • 2 x 500g minced beef
  • Peppers- chopped
  • Garlic- chopped
  • Mushrooms
  • 3 onions
  • 2 tins of chopped tomatoes
  • Squirt of tomato puree
  • Homemade white sauce
Grease the dishes that you intend to use. Pre-heat oven to around 200 degrees (dependent on oven) Fry minced beef then add finely diced onions and garlic. Add tomatoes and puree then simmer for around 20 minutes. Whilst this is cooking, take a knob of butter and melt in a saucepan. Add flour until you have a paste. Slowly add milk until you have a smooth white sauce. I had to add some grated cheese to thicken it up but obviously you can add flour or cornflour instead. Layer the white sauce, lasagne and tomato sauce with mince with white sauce as the last layer to fill your dishes. Add cheese on top then put in the oven. Bake for around 45 minutes but keep an eye on it! Serve with garlic bread and salad.

I omitted the peppers and mushrooms as my dad is a really fussy eater but add as many vegetables as you like :)

It was really nice to see my parents and of course my 2 brothers and sisters... yes I am the oldest of 5! I had forgotten how loud we all are when we are all together but it was LOVELY to see them :D They all came to see me because it is my birthday on Tuesday so they brought me my birthday cards and my birthday presents... I got some gorgeous tights in jade and navy and best of all a pair of house phones for our house! We were all ridiculously excited and I can honestly say we haven't got bored of the intercom function yet :P My grandparents also sent me an AMAZING food parcel (nomnomnom) and a gorgeous homemade chocolate birthday cake which you can see in the picture above :D I also want to say happy birthday to my cousin as it is his birthday today :)
I was also really really pleased that I finally got hold of my Gossip Girl Season 2 DVDs... I definitely think the second series is better than the first and they have improved the design of the DVDs which is better as the designs for the first series were a bit bizarre! Anyways...this has ended up being a REALLY long post but oh well! Hope everyone has had a good a weekend as me! Can't wait until my birthday...2 days ARGH!

Moving up in the world

No comments:
Apologies for the HUGE gap between posts, we have moved into our second year accommodation and FINALLY got internet sorted so expect to hear a lot more from sunny Coventry soon :) We have had a few problems as one of our original housemates has dropped out leaving us with a lot of issues to sort out including finding a new housemate! Luckily things seem to be looking up and hopefully we will be 100% sorted in a week or so...

One thing I am really excited about is MY BIRTHDAY! I am going to be 20 in 4 days and I do NOT feel old enough! In my head I am still about twelve or thirteen and it's quite a shock to know that in a few days I will no longer be a teenager but a "woman in her twenties"  My lovely boyfriend has organised a meal at Zizzi with my closest friends and then we are hitting Leamington for a few drinks - I genuinely can't wait! I know as you get older you are supposed to be less bothered about birthdays but I seem to get more and more excited every year... I suppose it's because all the attention is focused on me for 24 hours and secretly I love the limelight :D I am going to be wearing this LOVELY new dress that is actually one of my birthday presents (EEEEP!) and I am really looking forward to it :) Obviously the shoes I have are slightly less expensive than the Steve Madden ones featured here but as they didn't have the Primark ones I had to go for the next best thing! All in all,  I think the best thing about my birthday is the fact I get to see some of my friends who I haven't seen since the beginning of the summer :D unfortunately not everyone can make it but I'm sure we will still have an amazing time .... Roll on Tuesday!

Birthday outfit :)

I also have a number of new clothes items to share with you but I
think they will have to go on a separate Autumn themed post :)

Hurray!! Finally a chance to write a proper post :) As Maria said, things have been mad here; not only have we had the stress of moving into a brand new house [on our very own Imight add] but we now have to find a new housemate. This of course is cutting a very long story extremely short but for the sake of my fingers and your eyes, I’ll leave it at that.

Anyways, back to the new house! I think it’s safe to say that we’ve made the best of our humble little home [it’s amazing what a selection of plastic flowers can do] and in comparison to a lot of student housing I think we’ve come off pretty damn well. I won’t deny that we’ve had a few issues... a decrepit TV aerial, a slimy visitor in the form of a slug and a distinct lack of curtains to name but a few, but things are finally looking on the up!

Of course our main issue was lack of internet. As sad as it is, the house seems to feel warmer and cosier since being connected to cyberspace; our generations answer to a log fire maybe?! Anyway, we’re definitely relieved to have the web up and running again, even if it does mean we have no excuse to avoid work now. Speaking of which, it’s beginning to pile up already. We’re all struggling to keep up with reading, but are managing to motivate each other to do it.... strangely this currently involves drawing pictures for our fridge. At the moment we’re greeted with a smile from a puppy and the tragic goat when we make a grab for the milk. I’m thinking we’re going to have to discover more.... conventional methods of motivation soon, but for now I’m quite content with our random doodles.

Well I'm off to explore Polyvore now; I'm afraid Maria may have induced another addiction... oh dear. We will be posting some lovely outfit posts soon!!

The start of something exciting....

No comments:

Well, I think the title says it all really! Starting a blog has been a dream for a little while now but we have both been too scared...Obviously there is no guarantee that anyone apart from us and our friends will read it but we live in hope :) We are Danni and Maria and we are both 2nd year students at the University of Warwick.

♥ ♥ ♥ Dannimoo ♥ ♥ ♥
What can I say about Danni? I have only known her a year and now we are living together and writing this blog! She is absolutely  gorgeous and can wear pretty much anything- due in part to her gorgeous model figure :) She is also probably the "quirkiest" of everyone I know and wears amazing clothes and jewellery. I am also extremely jealous of her ability to apply makeup. Whatever fabulous outfit she is wearing she has gorgeous make up to match. You would think that all of this would make me hate her rather than love her but Danni is also the nicest person in all the world and I don't know anyone who doesn't love her just as much as I do :)

♥ ♥ ♥ Maria ♥ ♥ ♥

Mariaaaaa, you've gotta see-ee heeeer Well yep, this is just about right really considering that you'd really have to meet her in order to see for yourself how amazing she is (although i'm going to try and do her justice here!!). She always looks super-duper, and is 100% committed to her classic style... she's been known to go out with a change of outfit on hand...just in case! Ever the worrier Maria can easily spend a couple of hours deciding on an outift, but she needn't fret because she always manages to look beautiful! And it's not just her gorgeous fashion sense that is incredible, but also her uncanny ability to plant a smile on your face. No matter what situation, regardless of how rubbish you may be feeling she is ALWAYS ready to drop everything and make you feel as happy as Larry...on a very VERY good day. So get ready for some blog-lovin'!!
