Bouclé blazer and a Breton tee...

I was really keen to share this outfit, it is one of my favourites that I have worn recently but my exploring Cheltenham post was getting a little overcrowded so I thought I would save these outfit pictures for a separate post (lucky you!) These photos were taken with Mark's phone and they came out rather well I think! This was perhaps a bit work-y for a lazy Sunday but I loved all of the separate pieces so much that I ended up including them all in one outfit post instead... I've ended up looking like a flamingo in these pictures, I promise its my dodgy posing skills rather than a bad Photoshop job ;) As you know, I am a massive fan of bouclé and although this jacket isn't available anymore, there is a very similar one from ASDA here...

Jacket: George at ASDA c/o Matilda, top: H&M, skirt: French Connection, shoes: Office, bag: Brit Stitch
I look a bit like a bird who has just discovered a camera in a David Attenborough show here, I'm not entirely sure what I was doing, haha! I am wearing MAC Lady Bug in these pictures but I blotted it down as I wanted a more subtle look. I really like the colour but the Lustre finish always feels too slippery and I always worry it looks a bit clown-like on me too, what do you think? I finally got some better pictures of this fab H&M top too, it's definitely one of the best Breton tees in my wardrobe!

I picked up this gold cuff in the Accessorize sale a month or so ago and I love how chunky it is. The fact that it makes me feel a bit like Wonder Woman is just a bonus really! You can't get it on their website anymore but this simple gold cuff is equally lovely...

Are you a bouclé fan? How would you style this blazer?

Preppy inspired...

Smart casual is a tricky one to pull off, it is very easy to look crumpled rather than chic but this tried and tested combination is my favourite on days when I want to look pulled together, but still be comfortable. There's nothing worse than feeling trussed up all day when you're at work! It's the lovechild of this outfit and this one and is such a cliché 'I work in marketing' outfit- I blame the buttoned collar and the hipster glasses ;) I can't believe how different I look with longer hair either, those pictures were only taken a few months ago but I look (and feel) like a completely different person. It's amazing what a sassy haircut and a slick of jazzy lipstick (MAC Impassioned FYI) will do for your self esteem and your wardrobe!

When Joshua James Jewellery (try saying that in a hurry!) got in contact to see if I wanted to review something from their website, I was thrilled. I immediately headed to the watches section as I lost my blue Guess one in the move (sob) and ordered this Radley one but when it arrived it was far too small for my wrists so I swapped it for this one (which I actually prefer now it has arrived). I love the rose gold dial and the white leather is surprisingly chic (not a sentence I ever thought I would type!) The teeny Radley dogs on the inside of the strap have also elicited many coos of admiration too, they are just so darned cute!

I really love these dalmatian print shoes and they were perfect for adding a bit of excitement to a fairly plain outfit. I seem to be drawn to plainer outfits than I used to be, is this a sign that I am growing up?!

How do you shake up your style?

P.S. Joshua James Jewellery sent me this watch to review but if I didn't love it, I wouldn't feature it!

Early morning blues...

You can see from these photos that the weather has changed and Autumn is well and truly here. Just like every other blogger out there, Autumn is my favourite season and I have been enjoying the slight chill in the morning as I leave for work. I'm sure all of this will change when the temperatures drop proper but for now I am feeling pretty happy. I once read somewhere that people are most comfortable in the season that they are born in so my affinity for Autumn is bred in ;) I am a real fan of wearing bright colour when it is grey outside and this Matalan blazer has been getting a lot of wear recently!

Blazer: c/o Matalan, top: NW3 by Hobbs, jeans: Topshop, shoes: Betty London flats
This top also gets worn a lot, this time I paired it with red nails and a blue blazer rather than a red blazer and blue nails! I have been repeating the same outfits (or at least elements of them) a lot recently, I need a dash of inspiration from somewhere I think, staring at Pinterest and wishing hard for a new wardrobe just ain't cutting it!

Believe it or not, these are only the second pair of blue shoes that I have ever owned and they have barely left my feet. I am always impressed with Betty London shoes and this pair fit my feet like a glove. The only other brand that comes close for me at the moment is Clarks. It can be so difficult to get ballet flats to fit properly but these hug my feet and even have support for the balls and arch of my feet - winner!

What's your favourite season?

P.S. This post was done in collaboration with Spartoo

A bright blue blazer and lots of red lipstick....

It's just typical, I really loved this outfit but all of the photos came out looking really bizarre, mainly due to the light. I have to say (starting early on the moaning here!) I really miss taking photos outside during the winter, natural light is way more flattering first thing! I am lucky enough to be able to wear nearly anything to work and  my work outfits tend to be pretty casual but I try to incorporate smarter elements, like this blazer, and keep my skirt lengths relatively appropriate.

Blazer: c/o Matalan, top: Primark, skirt: French Connection, shoes: c/o Spratoo
There's nothing more annoying than your hair getting in your eyes as you are trying to work and whilst I love me a good topknot (#bloggercliche) it can look a bit strange at work! Recently I have been swooshing it back (technical term) and just pinning it into place with kirby grips. I love victory rolls but I can never really manage them, I think I need to trawl YouTube for some tips! My preferred red daytime lipstick is a Mac one which I got from the Cosmetics Company at Swindon designer outlet but I have never seen any lipsticks with red tubes before or since, any ideas if they are from a special collection?

Recently I have really loved French Connection (a shop I only ever look at when stuff is on sale!) and when I saw this skirt, I fell in love. Believe it or not, I don't actually have a black knee length skirt and it is such a wardrobe staple. I can't wait to layer this up with jumpers and ankle boots! I have barely taken these shoes off recently, they fit my foot like a glove and they are so comfortable! Now Betty London just need to do them in every colour...

Skinny cords and the perfect red blazer...

Considering how much I love blazers and the colour red, I can't believe I have never owned a red blazer before! I spotted this natty little jacket when we were doing our weekly shop at Tesco and the colour and the fact that it was reduced meant that I was checking out faster than you could say "TOTAL BARGAIN"! I love the cropped cut and I know this will get a lot of wear with my growing wardrobe of stripy tops. There's something about the two together that I love....

Jacket: Tesco, top: H&M, cords: ASOS, shoes: New Look, bag: NW3 x Hobbs, necklace: Accessorize
The Bank Holiday was the first proper bit of sunshine we have had in a long time and I took full advantage with good food, good company and some super jazzy sunglasses. I really love these glasses but the arms are getting a bit loose now so I need some new ones. Do you have any recommendations for the perfect cat eye sunnies?

A sneak peek at the perfect pair of skinny cords and a look at Mark's shoes. I find cords much comfier than jeans and I was really pleased with these ones, they suck you in in all the right places!

Where would I get some cat-eye sunglasses?

Oversized stripes...

I think it's a bit of a blogger cliché but my wardrobe is full of striped tops. This Mango jumper was a bit of an impulse buy but I couldn't resist adding another striped jumper to my collection. It is surprisingly warm and perfect for the office, especially when paired with my snazzy blue blazer! I have been wearing a lot of monochrome outfits recently and it feels weird not wearing any colour so this blazer is ideal for brightening them up...

Blazer: c/o Matalan, jumper: Mango, jeans: Topshop, top: c/o Matalan, necklace: New Look, shoes: c/o Matalan

I really love this jumper but I'm never sure how to style it. The oversized fit isn't that flattering on me and I'm not sure what to pair it with to stop me looking so square. I wore it here with a loose t-shirt but maybe I need a more fitted top? It reminds me of this outfit in a lot of ways, maybe I just need to dig out more skinny trousers?

This necklace is the perfect finishing touch and I have been wearing it a lot recently. I really like the length and think I need to invest in some more statement necklaces, they are perfect for pairing with stripes!

I have had these Topshop jeans for a year or so now but they have really stretched after a few washes too many and I am on the lookout for a new pair. I have heard some good things about the Joni jeans but does anyone have any other recommendations for high-waisted jeans?

How would you style this oversized jumper?

Matalan style project: workwear...

When Matalan asked me if I wanted to get involved in their style project I couldn't have said yes any quicker. Some of my favourite bloggers have participated in it and I love seeing all the different looks that people come up with for the same theme- it's so interesting to see what pieces everyone is drawn to! I was really impressed by how far my voucher stretched too, I managed to get the top, trousers, blazer and shoes for £50, how amazing is that?! I haven't actually worn this into work yet (hate the snow!) but as soon as the ice disappears, this will be top of the pile to wear!

Blazer: Matalan, top: Matalan, trousers: Matalan, shoes: Matalan. (all products c/o Matalan)
You know how much I love bright colours and this blazer is the perfect way to introduce a splash of colour into your work wardrobe, even in the most conservative of offices. The trousers may be a bit too 'out there' for the majority of people but the impeccable cut and the smart top and blazer makes them so easy to wear. I think the thing with jazzy trousers, is to keep the rest of the outfit simple...

I chose this top as I am always looking for thin layers to wear into work. My office goes from being freezing cold to boiling hot within the space of an hour and you need something that helps to keep you at a constant temperature. I love the way this top drapes and the batwing sleeves contrast with the fitted sleeves and make it more interesting than a bog standard white t-shirt. The devil really is in the details...

Tying in the red detail of the trousers with my favourite lipstick of the moment; Model's Own lipstick in 'Red Wine', the perfect shade of pinky red.

A close up detail of the gorgeous paisley print on these trousers. I wasn't expecting to love these trousers as much as I do but there is something about their unashamed boldness that I just love- they definitely put a spring in your step!
