Frills 'n' Spills

This jumper is super cosy and goes with pretty much everything in my wardrobe because of how plain it is. I love the stepped hem and it helps to skim nicely over my (ever-growing) food baby too!




Lipstick is one of those things that always makes me feel pulled together and Nars Audacious lipstick in Grace is my newest addition. It adds a splash of colour to a very plain outfit and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, I mean, just look how pretty it is! I decided that I am going to grow my hair slightly longer and although it's already annoying me a little bit, I can already do so much more with it. I don't think I could ever go back to having it this long, it's nice to have a bit of a change...

I am always worried that I end up looking a bit sausage-y when I wear a fitted bottom half but hopefully I manage to pull this off. These are supposedly leggings but as they have a fly and working pockets, I felt justified in calling them (very tight-fitting) trousers. You know how much I love ASDA shoes and this wedge pair are ideal for adding a bit of height without the fear of toppling over.

Summer workwear can be such a minefield, even in a casual office like mine, I dread to think what I would be like in a more formal business environment! My fail-safe is to go for a sleeveless dress but sometimes you want something a little more fun, and that's where separates come in. Now I admit, I will always prefer a dress (they are just so easy!) but I will always have space for a cute skirt and top combo in my wardrobe... Apologies for the weird lighting in these photos, they looked great on the camera but look really lacklustre here. It's a shame because I really love this outfit, I felt fun but still professional which is all you can ask for really! This cardigan is one of the nicest things in my wardrobe and it is perfect for this time of year as it is the perfect inbetween-y layer: thin but not too warm, thanks Matilda! ;)

This white draped top is another old favourite of mine and is the first thing I pull out when the weather heats up. The drapery makes it much more interesting than a basic white tee but it is still plain enough to wear with more statement pieces. As the outfit was pretty neutral, I decided to add a bit of colour with a bright lipstick and Max Factor Bewitching Coral matched my cardi perfectly!

This skirt was a bargain in the Sainsbury's sale at the beginning of last summer and although it has never featured on the blog before, I actually wear it a lot in the summer. The length is great (and long enough to have bare legs with!) and the fit is super flattering- I mean who doesn't love an elasticated waist?! The print is really unusual but I really love it as there are lots of colours in it that I can pick out. I originally added this necklace but it looked too bulky and this one would have been perfect, but I couldn't find it... I really need to sort out my jewellery box!

You can see how happy I am with this dress with the cheesy grin I have here! I kept my make-up pretty simple, mixing my Nars Orgasm illuminator with my beloved Dr Jart BB cream for a natural glowy finish. Lipstick-wise I paired Allure with Max Factor Xperience Sheer Gloss Balm in shade 02 for the perfect peachy shade.

You all know that I am a massive fan of ASDA's clothes and when they asked if I was up for a challenge, I readily agreed. Picking out what to wear is a total nightmare for me at the best of times so as you can imagine, I'm absolutely awful at packing for a weekend away. George at ASDA challenged me to pick out some of my favourite pieces from their website for a 'capsule weekend wardrobe' and although it was pretty tough trying to find pieces that would all work together, it was also a lot of fun!  Mark and I have been spending a lot of weekends away recently and I wanted to inject some summer into my wardrobe and I will be sharing how I style up my picks when we visit Oxford and Portishead over the next few weeks :) Seriously, I cannot wait to show you how gorgeous this seaside print dress is!

This top could have been made for me: stripes, lace and embellishment- what more could you ask for? The fact that it is ridiculously comfy is just the icing on the cake! I picked this Korres lip butter stick up recently and it has been soothing my chapped lips a treat. It is supposed to be tinted but I haven't really noticed it. I imagine it would be a bit more obvious over a lip tint?

Yes, I have committed the ultimate fashion faux pas: the shametuck but it was for a good reason, I promise ;) I really love the zip detail on these jeans and wanted to show it off. You can also see the gorgeous lacy detail on this top in this picture too- it could be overkill for some but I have never been a fan of minimalism!

It was really difficult to photograph these shoes (#firstworldproblems) but they are a pearlescent off-white/cream and have a slightly metallic sheen. The material is super soft meaning they are absolutely lovely to wear and I know I will get lots of use out of them with my summer dresses and skirts this summer.

 I picked up these trousers in the ASDA sale a few weeks ago, as I loved the rich terracotta colour. I wasn't sure what to pair them with (it's still a bit warm for my chunky knit jumpers) but this long-line shirt from H&M was ideal. I bought it a couple of years ago as I wanted a slouchy fit top to give me that effortless cool that certain girls can pull off but unfortunately I couldn't find a way to make it work. Usually I would tuck in my top when wearing slim fit trousers but I actually preferred the shirt left untucked; a choice which felt very out of character...

 I painted my nails in this gunmetal grey from Barry M (another unusual choice for me) and I actually loved the edge it gave to the outfit as I was able to pick up the grey of the shoes. Even when I took my jacket off (you should know by now how I feel about things being matchy matchy!) I also love the slight stripe on the shirt to match the cuffs of the jacket. It's the small things...

Shiny hair courtesy of the new Aussie shine range. It seems quite apt that I am wearing my (faux) pearls here! ;)
