Being grateful...

The card from my BFF that reduced me to a sobbing wreck when I got it in the post...
Apologies for the radio silence over here recently, my dad had a bad accident when he was out on his bike a few weeks ago and I don't want to go into detail but as you can imagine, things have been pretty full on recently. I have written about the importance of friendship before and this past month has been eye-opening in terms of how brilliant my friends and family are. There is a long way to go before things are back to 'normal' but I know that we will get there. I know I say this a lot but go and tell your loved ones how much you love them ♥

Hi Maria,

So sorry to hear about your dad; I hope he makes a speedy recovery. I know it must be a stressful, heart-wrenching time for you and your family. I'm glad you have such a supportive network of friends around you - and why not? you're lovely! - but whatever I can do to help, just let me know. You have my contact details if you need someone to talk to.

The importance of friendship and expressing what that friendship means to me is something i've been thinking about a lot lately. We don't tell people enough how we feel but I find myself worrying over whether I should say anything at all. I want my loved ones to know how much I think of them. I want to say 'this is how I see you' so that they'll feel reassured when they're going through a tough time and hopefully know i'm a friend they can count on. But then maybe that is assumed anyway. Maybe saying anything would only drive them away, if that makes sense?

I love the card x

Maria I've only just seen this - lots of love to you all and I hope your dad's well on the way to a full recovery. It's true that you really find out who your friends are in times of adversity xx

Sending you lots of love! We had a very scary scare with my dad just before Christmas, he's still on the path to recovery so I can complete relate with the feelings attached to having a poorly parent.

Hope he's feeling better!
