Basics don't have to be boring...

Basic is a pretty loaded term but even I have to take a break from dressing up; and when I need a break from pretty dresses, I head for simple pieces like this jazzy shirt and jeans. River Island have had some really nice casual pieces in recently and this shirt is a very welcome addition to my weekend wardrobe. I love the longer length of it and the soft cotton is thick enough to wear without a jacket which is ideal for this time of year.

Shirt: River Island, jeans: ASOS, shoes: Converse

My hot brush has been a key part of my hair routine for years and it is good to be able to use it again now that my hair is a bit longer. I don't tend to dry it from wet but it is good for adding some shape and taming my flyaways. I love an orange lipstick and the Revlon Just Bitten lipstain in Rendezvous was the perfect match to the orange stripes on the shirt.

The real highlight of this outfit for me though was the shoes. I've never really worn Converse but I saw this metallic pair and fell in love. I will always love anything rose gold and these shoes are just so shiny! 😍

I mean, how can you not have a smile on your face you are wearing these?! They are proof that basics don't have to be boring!

I wear black jeans and stripy tops all the time. All the time. All my Converse are bright colours though so I think I need to get some more neutral ones to get more wear out of them. Metallics count as neutral, right?

LOVE those shoes!! So pretty, I adore metallic trainers - I feel they make them a bit more luxe! xx

My friend wants these Converse for her wedding! I really like your shirt too, it makes me think of GAP. :)

I love that shirt! I never look or shop in River Island any more and I'm not sure why - I think the prices have just crept up over the years and it wasn't in budget at one point and just stopped shopping there.
I think I need to rethink things though as that shirt is right up my alley!
