I bought this dress when I was last in Worcester from good old H&M. I love the colour and length and it has proven to be a godsend for work but I'm just not sure how to style it without looking like someone's (frumpy) mother....
Dress: H&M, top [worn underneath]: Gap, loafers: Office |
In real life the skirt is perfectly swooshy and hangs nicely but I'm just not sure it is flattering me in the way a wrap dress should. I wanted it to be an easy throw-on outfit but these pictures have made me sure that I need to style it differently...
I love these shoes but I think they may have been too clunky for the dress, although I need the extra height due to where the skirt hits me on the leg.
At least I can take some consolation in the fact that my top underneath matches perfectly!
Outtake of the day: falling over on camera is never a good look!

How would you have styled it? Would you have worn different shoes?

I don't think I'd wear those shoes with the dress, maybe navy ballet flats. And maybe its the length of the dress making it a bit frumpier? I do like the pattern though :) x
I would throw on a fur gilet and add a chunky necklace. I agree with the shoes - midi dresses are hard to style. I'm 5'6 and the length hits me at the wrong place. You do look fab though x
Love the dress Maria! I would go for some high heels with this dress. Maybe with an orange/gold detailing to really pick out some of the subtle colours within the dress. I agree that Midi dresses can be hard to style but I tend to find high heels help and they add height and that can take away some of the frumpyness
The dress looks gorgeous on you! I would change the shoes to something less chunky and maybe wear some coloured tights and lots of jewellery, especially a chunky necklace xxx
I really like this! I would add a splash of lipstick and purple or mustard tights maybe...
You could also add a cute bag, something loveheart shaped etc x
I really like the pattern on the dress :) I would say maybe add a belt to break it up a bit but that could be tricky with it being a wrap dress. Some coloured tights would look nice with it too!

That is a gorgeous dress, it just needs killer heels! x
This is such a gorgeous dress. Would definitely wear this myself, maybe with a pair of cute wedges. xx
I see no frump at all, but I do agree with Laura - you need some biiiig shoes!
I think it looks amazing. I agree with Harriet - no frump in sight. I just see total sophistication.

It's not frumpy! If it were me though, I probably would wear higher heels. I might even define your teeny waist even more and belt it!
Loving the outtake there, awesomeness.
The dress, I love it, but can see how it might be a difficult one. Would suggest some slimmer heels or some shoe boots perhaps. You might also find a wide waist belt (over top of the ties) might add some toughness to the whole look particularly as we're still in Winter.
