My words won't do justice to the gorgeous scenery and wonderful holiday that I just came back from. I love Italy but Palazzola was something else entirely, my jaw actually dropped when we first arrived and I don't think I ever fully recovered. It was a minimum of 38°C each day when we were there and I even managed to get a tan through my Factor 50!
The view from the terrace across Lake Albano |
The swimming pool (averaging 27 °C in the water!) |
The lake from Castel Gandolfo |
I couldn't believe how high up the houses were stacked! |
Tealights on the terrace before the evening entertainment. This included karaoke, a talent night and disco- I have never laughed so much in all my life! |
Gorgeous flowers |
A typical breakfast for me: yoghurt, cake, fruit and a gorgeous jam tart (which tasted like a jammy dodger!) The rest of the food was absolutely gorgeous but I didn't get a chance to photograph it :( |
The sunsets were absolutely beautiful and different colours every night... |
I went swimming every day... |
All of the houses were gorgeous colours and had gorgeous views, very jealous! |
Gelato |
The Collegiate Church of St. Thomas of Villanova at Castel Gandolfo |
Dad and I trekked through the woods around the lake to get to Castel Gandolfo |
You can see how far it was on the map, tired doesn't even begin to cover it! |
Wandering through the grounds which were laid out like a maze |
A rather motley looking crew... |
The onsite chapel |
This is supposed to be a Bernini fountain but this has been disputed! ;) |
The centre of the cloisters |
The terrace where we ate all of our meals |
There were plenty of places where you could sit and relax in the sunshine |
Caves in the forest and a closer look at my outfit |
Everywhere you looked there were mini shrines and gorgeously decorated statues and votives. |
Public fountains where you could freshen up and refill your water bottles. |
I loved this library and I am now even more determined to have a library of my very own! |
I absolutely loved the holiday and you could do as much or as little as you wanted and I would definitely go back in a heartbeat.Have you ever been to Italy?
A HUGE thank you to Claire, Eloise, Kat, Florrie, Chloe and Clara who kept the blog ticking over when I was away, I couldn't have done it without you!

Oh gosh I am so jealous! It looks so beautiful there!
Looks, and sounds, like such an amazing trip. It's always nice to have a holiday and some relaxing time off.
I have the envies!
Oh my goodness that looks amazing! I have to go, haha. Italy is somewhere I like but am always nervous about because I don't speak the language (I like to be able to communicate in the country I'm in otherwise I get nervous, it's a weird thing of mine) so I think I have to get some Italian lessons going so I can visit! That shot of the lake is amazing! I also love the dress you're wearing in the group photo, you look so lovely :) xxx
i have never been to italy but have heard such amazing things. as proved by these gorgeous pics.
Beautiful photos, I'd love to go to Italy, maybe when It's not quite as hot though.. don't think I'd cope with it being 38c or higher each day! x
I love your sunglasses! they are so adorably cute. I'm glad you had a lovely time, the photos look stunning! xxx
