The Crown at Amersham (a review)...

After our trip to the Harry Potter studio tour, we decided to make the most of it and stay down in Amersham rather than driving back. We picked The Crown as it was both reasonably priced and convenient and I was really happy with our stay and can't recommend it enough!

Our room was in the Bailey block and although it wasn't quite as fancy as some of the others, it was clean, bright and comfortable.  I love white and grey together and the decor felt very bright and Scandinavian. This bed was so comfortable and just what I needed after spending all day on my feet!

The bathroom was lovely and I had the most relaxing bath after dinner...

The beautiful courtyard leading down to the restaurant...

I loved the mix and match Ercol chairs, I could never paint mine like this (I prefer the natural wood) but they do look nice in bright colours...

Starting our meal with a local ale and my current favourite gin and tonic...

The food here was absolutely incredible. All of the mains sounded great but as soon as I saw the ploughmans on the menu, I was sold. What's not to like about British cheeses, pickled egg and shallots, homemade pork pie and chutney?!  Paired with truffle -covered, hand cut, triple cooked 'posh chips' and I was very happy and very full!

We shared this crème brûlée for dessert and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

We also got a free glass of Prosecco because we booked directly and although I was fit to burst at this point, it rounded off the meal nicely

Breakfast was also included in the cost of the room and it was the perfect way to round off a lovely couple of days.
