My favourite exercise gear...

I'm wearing something a little less glamourous for this outfit post! ;) I have been going to the gym a couple of times a week to just increase my exercise levels and strength and despite the early starts I have really been enjoying it. For a long time my body and I have been at war and this might only be a truce, but I love the challenge (yes I do have a competitive streak!) and I love how I can feel my body getting stronger. I have always found nice clothes to be a great motivator and I wanted to show off the latest additions to my gym wardrobe... I have realised that I will always love snazzy leggings and that there's a lot to be said for fun prints and bright colours! Marks & Spencers are my go to for cool sports bras and they are the perfect foundation for whatever I get up to in the gym (not sponsored, I'm just a super fan!)

Top:Fabletics, crop top: Ellesse via TK Maxx, leggings: Fabletics, trainers: Nike c/o Sports Shoes
Apologies for the close up of my make-up free face but I refuse to exercise in make-up, sweat does not mix well with foundation! This Balm tank is ridiculously comfy, I bought a size larger than usual as I didn't want anything too skintight but actually, it is quite low cut without this crop top underneath it!

I have to admit I was pretty dubious about Fabletics before I ordered but I have been well and truly been proven wrong. These Salar legging (in Black Ice print) are my new favourites and they are brilliant, they have a high enough waist to be comfortable and the print makes me feel super badass too!

Being a total Nike fan girl in this outfit, but they do have some of the best sportswear!

I picked up this coral top in JJB's sale a few years ago (RIP) and it is one of the nicest ones I own, the cotton is super soft and however sweaty I get, it stays cool and dry.

I do generally prefer full length leggings but these Nike printed capris are ideal for when the weather warms up. The marble print skims over any lumps and bumps and let's be honest, what else would a blogger choose?! ;)

My local TK Maxx is always full of weird and wonderful treasures and I am always trawling through for bargains. Their sportswear is pretty varied but it's well worth having a rummage if you are looking for something in particular!

This top is from 90 degrees, not a brand I have heard of but I love the fit of it and the colour means it goes with all of my jazzy trousers!

These Puma PWR leggings are probably the best piece of exercise gear that I own, they make me feel like a superhero and who wouldn't want that?!

What do you wear to the gym?

My 2015 winter essentials...

Winter seems to have taken quite a while to kick in so far this year but the chill is definitely here now and since we have put the tree up, I am feeling really Christmassy! For once I have been really organised (don't hate me but yes, I had bought and wrapped my presents before the end of November! ;) I'm not a fan of the dark evenings but Mira Showers challenged me to share my wintry essentials and actually there's a lot to be said for these cheery items!

I have a bit of a thing for scented candles (blogger cliché alert!) and have had
This Yankee Simply Home candle in 'Savour the Season' smells so Christmas-sy. I love anything cinnamon scented so between that candle and these tealights, our flat smells like a bakery at the moment!

Scarf: Accessorize
You know how much I love the colour red and this cosy scarf is a recent addition to my wardrobe. I got some Accessorize vouchers for my birthday and decided to treat myself. It is so cosy and the perfect splash of colour.
Hats: River Island, Accessorize, Topshop and Accessorize
I am lucky enough to own a lot of cute hats and I have been wearing a lot of berets recently as they look pretty darned cute with my short hair. I have had this embellished black beret for years (just look at my little baby face!), the leopard print and the red bow one for a few years and this cute chunky beret was a birthday present from my lovely friend Naomi this year. I think most people suit a beret and there's nothing better for keeping you warm in winter!

The Internet has brought me some wonderful things and friendships are top of that list. I absolutely love owls so this hot water bottle is a fun way to keep cosy (yes I also have owl pyjamas!)

I got this cute cup for my birthday from my friend Becky and I really love it. I can't resist a pun and it is the perfect size for a hot chocolate with some marshmallows!

Cold weather always makes my skin really dry so I have been combating it with this La Roche Posay set and the Elemis Hydra-Boost day cream I got free with a magazine a few months ago. It gives me a really nice glow and my skin is just drinking it up at the moment.
Top: Ellesse via TK Maxx, leggings: Puma
I rejoined the gym recently and have really been enjoying it. Half of the battle is finding a routine that works and I think I have finally managed it.I have been going a couple of times a week before work and despite aching all over, it does start my day off right! You know that clothes are a great motivator for me and this crop top and these Puma tights are a fun addition to my workout wardrobe. I feel so cool in them and that's half the battle, right?!

I have been reaching for multi-purpose products recently and this Dainty Doll cream blusher in Paper Roses is great for whacking on after the gym and works well as a lipstick too. I wish it was still available to buy but I guess I can track it down online somewhere when this one runs out...

I'm usually a shower kind of gal but there's nothing nicer than a hot bath to keep you cosy. I must be the worst blogger ever as this Magic Christmas bubble bar was my first ever Lush purchase! I always love the look of individual products but the store always smells far too overwhelming for me. I had seen this one online and in the window and went in when I had a cold to buy it. It makes the bath a gorgeous orange colour and my skin feels so soft afterwards. Now that I have dipped my toe in, I will definitely be back, I just need to decide what to try next!

Nars make some pretty lovely make-up and I am a little bit addicted (I may have got Mark to order this set ready for Christmas!) Nars Audacious lipstick in Grace is a gorgeous bright creamy pink with a coral undertone and you only need one swipe for full coverage. Mark balked at the cost of this but the payoff is well worth the price and you can't beat an embossed lipstick for a bit of luxury ;)

What are your winter essentials? Which Lush products would you recommend?

Me and my (Zaggora) Hotpants...

I never thought that there would be more than one post of me dressed in exercise gear on this blog but strangely enough I have been enjoying exercising (when I can motivate my sorry self to go for a run or head into the gym!) Since this first post I have expanded my collection of exercise gear and this purple and orange top is a suitably jazzy addition to my wardrobe. It is a pretty weird shape but is really comfortable and most importantly it doesn't ride up when I'm exercising - there's nothing worse than constantly having to hoick stuff up or down!

Top: Adidas,  Hotpants: c/o Zaggora, socks: Adidas, trainers: c/o Sports Shoes
I really love the colours but the best part of this top has to be the pocket. I always struggle with where to put my insulin pump when I am exercising (I could take it off but I don't like to be without it completely as it makes me a bit nervous; yet so little exercise gear has pockets.) Nike, Adidas, Reebok, whoever, if you are listening, please make more clothes with pockets, diabetics everywhere would be thrilled!

When the lovely ladies at Zaggora offered to send me some of their iconic Hotpants (no, not like these!) I was super excited. I have wanted a pair since Sarah posted about them on Where Are My Knees back in 2011 but until now I have never been exercising regularly so it wasn't worth spending the money. I was pretty dubious about their claims and as someone who is always warm (I am known to friends and family as a human radiator!) I wasn't sure whether their "signature Celu-Lite heating fabric technology" was for me. Don't read on if you are about to eat or drink or are particularly squeamish as (TMI) these bad boys are seriously sweat inducing. The first time I wore these, I had to literally peel them off me afterwards. Weirdly when I was wearing them I didn't feel sweaty at all but afterwards was a whole different story! After wearing them a few times, I can confirm that despite the weird noise they make when I move (wetsuit-like material sure makes a funny old sound!) they are really comfortable and high enough in the waist for me not to feel self-conscious about my stomach - definitely my problem area!

What do you look for in exercise gear? Have you got any ideas on how I could tone my tummy?

P.S. This post was done in collaboration with Zaggora.

What a fashion blogger wears to the gym...

I posted a while ago about needing to lose some weight and recently I joined a local gym and have been going a few times a week. Anyone who knows me will laugh at the thought of me in the gym but I have actually been enjoying it and it is nice to have an hour to myself in the evening after I get home from work. I am never going to look particularly glamourous in gym wear but it definitely helps to look good if you want to feel better. I picked up this bright coral top and snazzy leggings at a local sports store, I have never been one for wearing a lot of black so why would I want to change the habit of a lifetime?!

Top: Adidas, leggings: Adidas, socks: Adidas, trainers: c/o Sports Shoes
These trainers were sent to me by Sports Shoes and have made going to the gym so much nicer. I love how bright they are and most importantly they support my feet. I used to just wear a pair of cheap trainers whenever I was exercising but since switching to these, my knee has stopped aching which can be no bad thing!

These trainers are ridiculously light and make my gym bag much easier to carry. These Tesco cleansing wipes have been perfect for taking off my make-up before I start my workout, my face without make-up may not be pretty but it saves my skin from trying to sweat though my make-up (niiiice)

A close up of the neon pink and flexi-sole which is supposed to make it feel like you are running barefoot. I'm not sure how true this is but it certainly helps with my ungainly stride!

Does looking stylish help you feel better when you are exercising?
