I think everyone has found the last week or so a bit of a shock if they were off over Christmas and New Year. Going back to work is killer. Although I prefer a routine, when you have been getting up at 11 and lazing around on the sofa all day, getting up at 5 am is very hard to do. Luckily this beautiful tweed dress from Monsoon (favourite sale item?) made my first day back much nicer! I love love love the tweed and the fact it has pockets MADE MY DAY. Please excuse my dazed expression in these photos, this was about half 5 so I look completely slightly dopey...
Dress: Monsoon, sheer shirt: New Look, belt: Primark, tights: ASDA, shoes: Office |
I love pinafore dresses (see here and here for proof!) and I love the fact that this dress can be worn on its own or layered up with one of my many sheer blouses for a slightly different look. The length is perfect for work and although I felt slightly like a schoolgirl, I think this is one of those outfits where you show a bit of personality, but it is still appropriate for a more conservative office...
Paired with my trusty black patent skinny belt (I must have about 5 of these!) and my Opi x James Bond nail varnish I managed to make myself feel more pulled together for my first day back. It's funny how just little things like having your nails painted can make such a difference isn't it?
Hopefully by the end of this week I will have settled into a routine again. Luckily I have some of my best friends coming to stay and a birthday meal and film night to look forward to this weekend, having plans is definitely making it easier to get through the week!
What makes you feel 'pulled together'? How did you ease yourself back into work after Christmas?

It is hard to get back into the routine! :( love this Monsoon dress though! xx
I love this dress, perfect for work. I had two weeks away so getting back to work and cold weather has not been fun - sale purchases have made it more bearable though! x

Haha, I had the same issue waking up for work after Christmas. It's so dark and cold!
Love the pinafore. Looks so great on you.
Getting back to work was so hard.
I work freelance so work from home most o the time and I had to literally throw myself out of bed the first day I got back to work. It was awful :)

Fashion, Well Done
Oooh, I love the dress! But to be honest, looking at pretty monsoon dresses make me wistful- I used to work there and I miss my staff discount so painfully! Gahhh. Was my first day back at school too- I fought the blues by clashing every print and colour I own. Didn't work. Excellent xx
Tell me about it. I could have done with at least another week off. Loving this outfit that you are wearing, so chic! And yep, hopefully the end of the week will bring some normalcy to our routines :)
Followed you back!
This is definitely an outfit that would get me excited for work too. Seems warm, comfortable and stylish. Those three things can get me out the door!
Lovely Outfit!! I wouldn't feel quite so bad heading out in your outfit, i have to wear full uniform and it gets soo boring! I'm up at half four and not even remotely audience worthy until six thirty so you pulled this together quite quickly!

This dress is so lovely. My first day back at work outfit was jeans and a t-shirt, very boring!

I started back at work on the 2nd and it was a toughie - that was the worst 3 days ever, I was just fighting sleep and the need to watch day time tv and eat chocolates ahha, this week has been much easier for me! Loving the dress on you Maria.
Tres cute, gotta love the Monsoon sale!
