Renaissance...

As you may have noticed, things have been a-changing around here recently. The lovely Ashleigh did me a fab new blog design (you could win a redesign for your blog here!) and helped to make it look much sleeker and I love the new duck egg blue background. I got the biggest surprise the other day though when Mark surprised me with this gorgeous illustration from Sarah. I have always loved her drawings and this was the best email to open in the morning! I am super pleased with how the revamp worked out and I can't wait to see what this year brings blogwise, it feels like my little blog has been reborn and I am massively inspired at the moment!

What are your blogging hopes for this year? Do you like the revamp?

Maria's party essentials: a little red dress...

I have written before about my love of red dresses and this is one of my favourite 'party' outfits. I bought this dress from Tesco for around £7 and as with most Tesco pieces I absolutely love it and have worn it to death! It is actually a bright scarlet but I think the orangey tones of our living room have made the colour photograph funny...

Dress: Tesco, necklace: Topshop, shoes: Bertie
Plus it has pockets!! How much fun is that?!

I have just been browsing on Bertie's website (so many beautiful shoes!) and these shoes are still in the sale so grab them quickly!
Paired with my current favourite bag and necklace. I know it is a bit of a fashion faux pas mixing gold and silver but I figured red and gold was slightly more festive...

My beloved grey suede bag (which I found out that you can wear as a clutch too!)

The shape of this neckline is just about perfection, I love the sweetheart bodice and the straps are thick enough to cover your bra straps, it is a major bugbear of mine when you have to keep readjusting them under a skimpy dress!

Would you wear a red dress? What colour combinations make you feel festive?

P.S. Congratulations to Sara Falcone, the very lucky winner of the gorgeous Dino-might necklace, let me know your address and I will post it out to you! Thank you to everyone who entered, I will be doing another giveaway very soon so keep your eyes peeled for that :)

Now that we are finally in December, the countdown to Christmas can really begin and I have teamed up with Eclectic Eccentricity to help to get you in that festive spirit. I love Eclectic Eccentricity's site and I have added this gorgeous cameo bracelet to my Christmas wishlist (hint, hint if you're reading Mark!)  I am really excited about this giveaway, and it is super easy to enter...

Banana dress

I don't there is anything that is making me smile as much as this dress at the moment! The Fairy Hobmother visited me after I commented on Ellie's post and very kindly gifted me with a £50 Amazon voucher which I couldn't wait to spend!

Dress: Ruby Rocks via Amazon, blazer: New Look, belt: vintage, tights:Sainsburys, shoes: New Look
I will be honest, this dress isn't the most flattering one I own, or even the cheapest but it's fun and sometimes that is just what you need!

I wasn't sure if the blazer made it look too severe but my leather jacket was just too much 'look'. I thought it was better to leave the focus on the dress rather than overwhelm it with too many accessories.

This picture shows the print a bit better, how fun is it?!

I am totally in love with my 'Coral Shimmer' lipstick by Natural collection, the perfect peachy colour, ideal for picking out all these gorgeous autumnal colours in the leaves at the moment!

My little treat to myself: Fashion Face Off playing cards, Gossip Girl Seasons 3 and 4  and the banana dress of dreams...
You too can be in with the chance of having the Fairy Hobmother visit you, just comment on this post and tell me what you are wishing for!

Would you wear fun fruity prints? What are you wishing for?

Excitement....

Apologies for the short post, I have a lot of things to be excited about at the moment; I am returning home from London for a few days (meaning I have a LOT of packing and sorting to do!)  and then I am moving back to uni and into my new student house which I am really excited about. It means I will be living under the same roof as Mark, something which will make both of our lives much easier. I am nervous but very excited! :D I can't believe that Danni and I are in our final year too- scary times! My dissertation reading is going OK but I have so many ideas buzzing round my head that it is difficult to get them into a coherent form...

The most exciting thing though is the fact that Frills 'n' Spills will be a year old on 1st October!

I can't believe how far we have come in this year and how many friends we have made in the process :)  We will also be doing another giveaway when we reach 100 followers so please please please recommend us to your friends and see if we can reach a century for our first birthday!

What we want to know though is what you would like to see more of on Frills 'n' Spills? Let us know in the comments below and we can endeavour to do it!

Giveaway winner and a pampering evening!

Congratulations to Nikki of One Opal Fruit who is the winner of our giveaway

"Oh my goodness, I *love* that lace dress! My perfect pamper evening:First of all I'd prepare myself a delicious meal - I love cooking so a few hours in the kitchen in nice and relaxing for me. Before I eat, I would have a really nice big bubble bath- probably with something from Lush. and with a facemask on. Then I'd give myself a manicure and pedicure, cover myself in body moisturiser (preferably a tanning one!) and jump into some comfy PJs. The rest of the evening would be spent eating my yummy meal, drinking wine and reading a book or watching some trashy t.v. Love the blog btw, I think it's really fab :) The only people currently reading mine are the three other contirbuters, haha! x"

If you email us your address Nikki, we will get that posted out to you as soon as possible :) Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway, it was lovely to hear all of your suggestions and it was so difficult to choose just one winner. Keep your eyes peeled for more giveaways though! :D
All of your suggestions inspired me and Danni to have a pampering evening of our own, so we cooked a healthy dinner of pasta and tricolore salad with vinegarette...
...picked out some films for the evening...
Yes, you ARE reading that right... High School Musical 1 and 3 and Sex and the City: The Movie.
Chose some nail varnish...
... which resulted in some very cool nails!
She WILL kill me for this!
SO attractive! :S
I love how the Maltesers boxes always have really cute pictures on them...AMAZING! :D
True love! Speaking of which, what are everyone's thoughts on Zac Efron? Danni and I have developed a full on crush on him...about 5 years late! I think it's his arms, they are so nice!  Here he is in action in HSM 3...

So do you love or loathe Zefron? ;) What are your weekend plans?

Give it away, give it away, give it away now... [GIVEAWAY]

Wow. I can't believe we've reached 50 followers today; it seems like just 5 minutes since we began our little venture into the blogosphere (I could not sound any more cliched if I tried could I?). First of all, I think we owe you all a big thank-you. Not only for taking an interest in our admittedly average lives, but for being patient enough to let us develop our own personal styles; in fashion and in writing. Finally, I think we can both sit back and smile with pride at the blog we've created; by no means is it the most advanced, or interesting, but it is something that we can both truly enjoy and enjoy to share. I thought it'd be interesting to take a quick look back at where we've come from, and give you guys the chance to have a good old giggle at our (ok, my - Maria looked lovely!) fashion faux pas from one of our first posts...

Gosh. I'm almost ashamed of that photo. Yet in a way it reminds me how far I've come in less than a year, and in all honesty I think the blog itself has helped give me the confidence to develop, as well as the wonderful friends I have who've brought me out of my shell. I can't possibly speak for Maria here, but I do know that she too feels that the blog (and all of your lovely contributions!) have allowed her the confidence to try new things, and brave new trends.

Here are a couple of photos taken this week before we went to a friends 'black and white' themed birthday party...
Apologies for the blurring! Hopefully though, the differences are clear and you can see how much we've changed over the past nine months.

Now, on to the exciting part; we're hosting our very first giveaway. We've got lots of pampering goodies to be won...
... including body creme, shower creme, bath salts, nail varnishes and ear-rings (every pampered girl needs a bit of bling!) and you could win the lot :). All we want to know is how you find time to relax and pamper yourself.... the more original the better! It's one entry per person, so just leave a comment below with your idea and we'll pick a winner in a week's time. [Please note this giveaway is open to U.K readers only - sorry!] That gives you a whole seven days to come up with something unique, so get thinking!

Once again, thank you all for your support so far and good luck!
