Crochet, floral and maxi length...the perfect sunshine outfit?

After the rain and gales of last week, I was beginning to think that we had had our summer and the sun was never going to peek around the clouds again but luckily it did and I have fully embraced summer dressing. I am one of those people who is always warm, great for in the middle of winter, but it always makes me dread summer due to the fact that I feel about 100°C in the shade. Whilst it is tempting (for me at any rate) to wear the minimum amount of clothing I have found that loose layers do a better job of keeping me cool when the weather gets a little balmier.

Dress: Miso at Republic, crochet top: Yayer,  shoes: New Look, hat: Primark, sunglasses: Accessorizebag:  Nine West via charity shop.
I bought this dress around Easter last year after I fell in love with the print and colours but I never really wore it as it is actually strapless and I prefer a bit more support to avoid hoisting my dress up all day. This lovely crochet top came to the rescue though as it hides my bra straps and adds a bit of texture, without detracting from the lovely vibrant print.

I'm not gonna lie, I also think it added a dash of hippy cool as I wafted around the park this afternoon too! :P I am also planning on pairing the top with some brightly coloured shorts for my summer holidays, because who wants fussy outfits when they are on holiday?!

I had my haircut this morning too and it is such a relief to lose some of my hair. I'm not even joking when I say it was getting out of control! The hairdresser blow-dried it to give it some volume and then used some ghds to add a few curls at the bottom.  I am really loving it and I have already received compliments so she obviously did a good job!

It is annoying that you can't see these shoes in any of the photos but I bought these (plus another two pairs!) with my voucher from the New Look press day and they are seriously the comfiest shoes ever. They are made out of the softest suede and feel like you are wearing slippers. There are 4 gorgeous colours but I thought the black would be most practical and get the most wear and who could resist the cute floral lining?!

How do you find ways to rework a difficult piece of clothing? Have you bought new shoes recently?

I love the Maxi dress - like to see a photo without the crochet top on - I wanna see the whole dress.
I agree with Emma about your hair - I've always been envious of your hair, would swap for it in a second!

That dress is lovely! I know what you mean about strapless dresses - I'm always wary too. I'm also very jealous of your hair, it looks so voluminous!x

You look so pretty Maria! Your new hair looks so bouncy and beautiful (reminds me, must get mine booked in for a trim) and you're right, that lacey top goes so well. I recognised your dress because I bought the other version (cream floral) last year online, but though it fit round the waist it was too tight on the boobs :( ♥ Claire @ Jazzpad

I NEED THOSE SHOES. Oh gosh, for someone who claims they're not a shoe-person, I seem to spend a lot of time professing my love for your shoe collection, Maria ;) Really like the crochet and maxi together, might have to wear a similar look soon when the occasion arises!

Sometimes I like to cut up/tie up difficult pieces of clothing to make the fit sit better. Drop arm holes or tying tops at the waist is so good for a 'new' look at no extra £s! xx

This is such a fantastic idea! It looks great and a bit different to how everyone else is wearing maxis. Lovely! x

Those little loafers are super cute, I may have to pop along to New Look and get me a pair! I brought some little loafer style shoes from primark but they hurt my feet so shall be taking them back, these look really comfy! Love the colourful dress, looks ace on! x

Awww you look lovely!
I tried those shoes in red, I don't know if I had a botch pair but where the section of material covering the foot was stitched to the rest of the shoe inside it was bulky and hurt my feet :(

Your hair looks lovely like this! I love the way you've styled the lace top over the maxi. I've got a similar top at home, so I'll definitely be giving it a go.

I really love how you've styled the crochet top over the maxi, such a good idea. Love the hat and the new hair cut too.

I love how it's warmer now! The weather is beautiful. Loose layers are definitely more effective than minimum clothing, and your dress is so pretty. And the crochet vest goes perfectly with it.

And your hait looks amazing!!
