Frills 'n' Spills

I have barely taken these wonderful Clarks loafers off my feet but when they are this comfortable, why would you?! Nude tights were perhaps slightly optimistic but I don't think this dress would suit black tights, perhaps I could try it with sheer spotty ones next time? 

Any tips for finding 'proper' vintage workwear?

Once again though, my love is reserved for my shoes. Since I bought these black ankle boots, I have been wearing them with everything. They are like the more wearable version of these and ridiculously comfy, I didn't even have to break them in...

I think it might be love! They have the perfect size heel to give me a bit of a lift (avoiding the dreaded stumpy leg syndrome) and the black suede is gorgeous. Considering these have barely left my feet for a month and have been subjected to water, mud, grass and slippery leaves, it is also incredibly hard wearing. Definitely considering buying a back up pair of these...

I wore this dress when we went to Bristol last weekend as I needed something that was comfortable to wear all day and dressy enough to celebrate properly. I love the swooshy skirt of this and the stripes remind me of carnivals, maybe its because I resemble the 'big top'?! I bought it when the lovely Hattie and I met up for lunch in Cheltenham recently. She seems to be good luck for my wardrobe, last time we met up she persuaded me to buy my favourite black trousers (we definitely have to meet up soon if she is this good for my wardrobe!) 

The 50s style of this dress required a retro inspired hairstyle and so this is my very feeble attempt at a 'victory roll' hairdo, unfortunately it completely collapsed when there was the slightest gust of wind- anyone have any tips?

Recently I seem to keep buying things with back detailing and this was no exception - I now have a wonderful patch of sunburn which should be rather amusing on holiday next week!

The cat eye sunglasses and red lips added to the retro feel of this outfit and I did feel pretty glamorous wandering around town. This is such an easy outfit and it's my go to for those days where I don't know what to wear...

I have been trying to do more with my hair recently and I keep twisting up into a bun for work as there is nothing more annoying than your hair on your face when you're trying to work is there?!

 My mum spotted this dress in a charity shop and she knew straight away that I would love it. It is homemade but has a proper label and I would guess it is a 50s day dress from the shape and fit. The dress fits me like a dream, it is almost as if it is made for me and for £6 you can't really go wrong!

 This outfit was perfect for the sunshine we have been having, fitted but loose enough to keep me cool and the cat eye sunglasses made me feel very 50s with the swooshy skirt...

The bolero is so cute too, it nips in to define the waist and it gave me a bit of coverage on my shoulders too. Apologies for the ghostly glow, Factor 50 sunscreen left me a bit pale!

A pair of super simple Jesus sandals leather sandals which remind me of these ones from Zara but for a fraction of the price, these were only £12 from Primark and they are super comfortable. They slip off at the back, I think I will have to get a pair with an ankle strap so that they stay on my feet...
