A vintage coat and brand new boots....

Recently as it has got colder, I have found myself reaching for my beloved skinny jeans and I have been trying to find different coats to pair them with so that people don't realise that I am essentially wearing the same outfit ;) This coat was my vintage bargain buy from when Danni and I went to Vintage at Goodwood with Aussie and it has never really had much airtime on here despite me wearing it a lot. I love the fuchsia pink colour and the fact it is 100% wool definitely helps!

Coat:  vintage, top: NW3 at Hobbs, jeans: Kristens from Topshop, shoes: Betty London ankle boots c/o Spartoo, bag: vintage
This little beauty is the latest addition to my (ever growing) owl collection and was a wonderful birthday gift from my friend Matilda as part of an owl themed birthday present- isn't he gorgeous?! I just love his little pearl body and the length of the necklace is perfect...

Once again though, my love is reserved for my shoes. Since I bought these black ankle boots, I have been wearing them with everything. They are like the more wearable version of these and ridiculously comfy, I didn't even have to break them in...

That is a look of true love my friends. Sorry Mark, Bertope and I are now an item...
I think it might be love! They have the perfect size heel to give me a bit of a lift (avoiding the dreaded stumpy leg syndrome) and the black suede is gorgeous. Considering these have barely left my feet for a month and have been subjected to water, mud, grass and slippery leaves, it is also incredibly hard wearing. Definitely considering buying a back up pair of these...

80's-tastic!

Sometimes I wish I was a 1980s teenager. I have a real penchant for 80s pop music and the garish fashion and I finally watched The Breakfast Club this weekend, which really sealed it for me. I have written before about 80s style work wear and this was another outfit that looked like I had pulled it out of my mum's wardrobe 20 years too late...
Shirt:H&M, trousers: ASDA, blazer: Tesco, shoes: Stylist Click c/o Spartoo, necklace: Dorothy Perkins
I picked up these trousers in the ASDA sale a few weeks ago, as I loved the rich terracotta colour. I wasn't sure what to pair them with (it's still a bit warm for my chunky knit jumpers) but this long-line shirt from H&M was ideal. I bought it a couple of years ago as I wanted a slouchy fit top to give me that effortless cool that certain girls can pull off but unfortunately I couldn't find a way to make it work. Usually I would tuck in my top when wearing slim fit trousers but I actually preferred the shirt left untucked; a choice which felt very out of character...

Possibly the comfiest pair of shoes that I own and the perfect everyday heel height too!
I painted my nails in this gunmetal grey from Barry M (another unusual choice for me) and I actually loved the edge it gave to the outfit as I was able to pick up the grey of the shoes. Even when I took my jacket off (you should know by now how I feel about things being matchy matchy!) I also love the slight stripe on the shirt to match the cuffs of the jacket. It's the small things...

Shiny hair courtesy of the new Aussie shine range. It seems quite apt that I am wearing my (faux) pearls here! ;)

Do you prefer to clash or co-ordinate? How do you take yourself out of your comfort zone?

Introducing...#AussieShineMonday

So you may have heard a few whispers already but Aussie are introducing a new range designed to maximise the shine in your aussome 'do, filled with Australian Ginseng extract and Pearl powder. The best bit about these though is definitely the smell. Who wouldn't want their hair to smell like 'cotton candy'?! Even the classic 3 minute miracle has been given a makeover...

A basket filled with Aussie goodies? Yes please!

Yes, that is an Aussie bathrobe...

The lovely Eugene did my hair for me again and I absolutely LOVED the style. I had a thick braid coiled around my forehead, another around the back of my head with the rest of my hair curled and loosely pinned, I only wish I had been going out afterwards as this hair was hot to trot!

Unfortunately my hair styling skills leave a lot to be desired but Eugene has inspired me to be a bit more adventurous with my hair, definitely something to try when I go out for my birthday!

How do you add shine to your hair? Will you be trying the new Aussie range?*

*of course you will!

P.S. Check out Lizzie and Lily's posts too, they have some amazing pictures from the day...
P.P.S. Aussie gave me these items for review but you know how much I love their products already!

If in doubt, wear a floral dress...

This dress is one of those items in my wardrobe that is routinely moved to the 'to sell' pile and yet I never quite manage it [and not just because I am lazy and can never be bothered to eBay stuff] It's not the most flattering dress I own but it is easy to wear and on those days where I feel like I have nothing to wear, I always end up pulling it out of the eBay box. This dress is like an old friend, comfortable and flattering, even with the minimum of effort...

Dress: Therapy from House of Fraser, cardigan: Matalan, belt: vintage, shoes: Accessorize
Accessorized with red lips and natural make up...

Not a big fan of how 'crispy' my hair looks here, my Percy & Reed finishing polish has seemed a bit too heavy for the hotter weather, I think I need to go back to my Aussie conditioning milk....
...and my favourite vintage belt, I love the width of it, so many belts are either too fat or too skinny and the gold buckle appeals to my inner magpie...

Finished off with nude fishnets and patent red shoes- I love nude fishnets for adding a bit of texture and when I saw that Accessorize was selling them, it's safe to say that I stockpiled a few (!) pairs! They are perfect for making a comfy outfit a bit more interesting and I would definitely recommend these as comparable to these Jonathan Aston ones

Which clothes can you just not part with? How do you jazz up a 'comfy' outfit?

Summer sizzle...

Whilst this summer has been a bit of a washout so far (I am holding out for some nicer weather this week!) a rather welcome sunshine package dropped through my door a couple of weeks ago. Aussie never fail to get it right when it comes to putting a smile on my face and this latest parcel was no exception...

I love purple and orange together!

When I opened the box I was greeted with the most heavenly smelling bag filled with all kinds of Aussie goodies.

I am going back to Italy in August and I cannot wait, I had such an amazing time last year and I know that this year is just going to be even better, especially as we will be spending more time in Rome! (EEK!)

I love the limited edition bottles for summer this year, the colours are so pretty and make me feel really summery. My favourite out of these has to be the leave in conditioner, it was a lifesaver last year in the heat, especially when I was spent all of my time either in the pool or sunbathing!

MINIATURES! I love mini toiletries and Mark often has to drag me away from the travel toiletries stand as otherwise I would buy absolutely everything, just because it's small. My mum and sisters have already bagsied some of these and I get the feeling they will try and snaffle the full-size bottles too!

This summer you'll find me at the pool, Aussie towel in tow to save my sun-lounger. I now want a purple bikini to match my Aussie bag too, any recommendations?

Are you going anywhere on holiday? What makes your summer sizzle?

Red hot...

I should say now, these photos were taken in that brief window of time where the sun was actually out and it was warm enough not to have to wear a coat, unfortunately now I am back huddled up in my winter woolies! There's nothing particularly exciting about this outfit but I loved the individual pieces together and liked it so much that I just had to share...

Top: Oasis, shorts: Miss Selfridge, tights: Sainsburys, shoes: Office
You all know how much I love the colour red, so when these shorts came into the sale, it was a total no-brainer. I loved how they were high waisted but also long enough that I didn't have to keep pulling them down all day.

Even from the back they looked OK, I find some high waisted things make you look like a sack of potatoes so I was glad to see that this wasn't the case!

Mark commented that it looked like the waistband was a simple 'cut and paste jobby' and I think he's right!

My favourite Breton striped tee, perfect for keeping off the chills and for covering over my less than tanned arms!

My updated version of my classic nude flats. My old Dorothy Perkins one had really suffered enough so I thought it was more humane to replace them before they completely fell apart. I wore these to the Aussie party and didn't hurt my feet at all, despite trekking round London, definitely a win in my book!

Do you replace old favourites? What outfit is a no-brainer for you?

Unfortunately my visit was short but sweet but I hope to see everyone soon! I met some lovely bloggers like Faye but unfortunately I don't have any pictures!

What would you have worn on the red carpet? Do you like blogger events?

P.S. I stole the majority of these photos from Aussie's Flickr page as I stupidly left my camera SD card at mark's house... DOH!
