The Cookiepedia: a review

One of the best things about having a blog is being lucky enough to try out products that I might otherwise not get the chance to. I was contacted a few weeks ago by Mat from PGUK and he very kindly offered to send me a copy of 'The Cookiepedia' by Stacy Adimando. You all know how much I like baking and I thought that it would be a good opportunity for me to try out some new recipes and hopefully showcase a fantastic cookbook at the same time... win win all round right?

First off, I have to say, I love the bright primary colours and the details throughout the book really help to make it both easy and fun to use.

So true!

The book (obviously) is devoted to all things cookie and is helpfully split into different sections, with pictures for each recipe. I personally like to have some idea of what a finished product should look like in order to measure how well the recipe came out, so I love this!

Buttery cookies...

Chocolate-y cookies...

Fancy cookies...

Fruity cookies...

Spicy cookies...

and nutty and seedy cookies!
The book is actually American so all of the quantities are measured in cups which was a bit disconcerting until I found the conversion chart at the back...doh!

Each of the recipes has tips and a space for you to add notes which I like as I am always adding bits and pieces to recipes... another thing this book encourages!

One thing I really disliked was the spiral binding as I meant it was difficult for me to flip through the book quickly in search of the recipes and I had to turn each page individually, which left my book covered in flour. I guess though it means that once you have a recipe open you can stay on that page but as most of the recipes cover two pages, it seems a little strange...

I made amaretti biscuits and gingerbread snaps using the recipes from the book (which I will devote proper posts to!) and truly, they were fantastic, I can't wait to try a few more out! For anyone who likes baking with a pinch of humour, I would say that this book is a must, especially if you are a cookie fiend like me, I have a feeling that Danni would approve too...

Do you like cookies? What's your favourite recipe book?

Looks like a really good book, but the recipe being split up would really irritate me! May have a peek in the shops and see if I could get on with it!
