Frills 'n' Spills

OOER missus- judging by the title I think I may get a fair few odd search terms now but oh well! As soon as it started to get cold again, I dug out these fab leather trousers/waxed jeans and some thin and cosy layers to ease me into winter. This jumper is such a gorgeous turquoisey teal shade but it hasn't translated very well in the pictures which is a bit rubbish. (#bloggerwinterwoes) It reminded me of a sequinned jumper which I wanted from Hobbs at the beginning of the year but luckily was much cheaper- I love supermarket clothes!

As you may have noticed, I am now the proud owner of some very snazzy glasses! After being told that my prescription had changed, I decided that some new frames were in order and Claire and Jen provided some much needed inspiration for my new frames. (I have to say how much I love Jen's make-up classes for girls with glasses, if you're a specs wearer, check them out!) They have taken a while to get used to but I am already loving how different I look in each pair (review of these lovelies to come soon!) I was really surprised by how much I loved the Gok Wan range and found it difficult to narrow it down to just 2 pairs!

This week, Autumn has well and truly edged into winter and I have been feeling pretty grumpy about being back at work after having a (much needed) week off so I have been cheering myself up with a few treats...

The best part about getting home for me is getting changed into my 'slob suit', a term Danni and I coined whilst at uni for those oh so comfy clothes that you love but could never leave the house in. This set from Uniqlo is absolutely perfect for slouching around in, it is lovely and warm and I am seriously tempted  to get it in more colours...

With the judicious application of all of the above, I think I will (just about) get through the next few months!

What are your winter essentials? 

For this autumnal salad with fish I used seasonal vegetables such as butternut squash mixed with salad favourites spinach, mushroom and tomato to create a healthy yet filling evening meal. 

As I said the other day, I don't straighten my hair that often mainly because I hate how damaged it can leave it. I rarely use heat on my hair at all but since I had such a positive reaction I will definitely be trying it again soon. I was sent a style and protect set by ghd to review and I have to say that knowing I can protect my hair from the worse of the heat makes me feel a lot less guilty about straightening it!

The set includes a huge paddle brush, some clips to section your hair (a necessity when you have as much hair as me!) the 'Straight and Smooth Spray' and the 'Final Shine Spray' which both smell amazing...

How do you keep your 'do looking glossy? Have you tried any ghd hair products before?

Although I may complain about my hair, I have been lucky enough to have hair which I can straighten if I want to (unlike my younger sister for example!) even though I don't do it that often.  The other morning I woke up with completely mad hair- one side looked like I had been electrocuted and the other was completely flat. I knew that nothing would work except straightening it so out came my trusty straighteners, which I have had for years, and my rather snazzy hair styling kit from GHD. (post to come on this lovely set soon!)

I always end up pulling this shirt out for when I am feeling particularly uninspired with my work outfits and it was the perfect match for this purple suede-y mini skirt (seen here with my alphabetights). It was loose enough to contrast with the skirt but still look smart with the blazer (I hope!)

When I straighten my hair, I don't like it to look too pristine, so I liked how this turned out with the different lengths of my layers. I haven't had them cut back in now for at least 6 months but until I chop it a lot shorter my hair will still have all these different lengths in. Any tips on making my hair grow faster?

Another year older, but not much wiser! I will  be spending the next couple of days drinking far too much and dancing till my feet hurt with some of my favourite people so I will see you once I have recovered! ;)

Since buying the new Kate Moss lipstick, I having been loving richer berry shades and this Revlon Matte is that perfect shade of 'just finished a bottle a glass of red wine'.

This top is the last of my pieces from the Uniqlo x Orla Kiely collection (I promise I will stop banging on about it soon!) I initially ordered this one but that was in the parcel that went walkabouts and they only had XS left when I went to reorder it :( Apologies for the annoying strand of hair in this first photograph, I didn't realise that it had fallen out of my plait until I looked at the photographs! I loved the printed top and the camel coat but I did feel like I was dressed like a mum from the 1970s... 

I have seen quite a few bloggers wearing those amazing checked Uniqlo trousers and when I saw how awesome Jen, Hannah and Claire looked, I wanted in on the checked action. I picked up this pair of trousers after a lunchtime trip to New Look and I love the slim cut mixed with the check pattern.
