Guess what? It's another floral maxi!

That's right folks, I'm back with another floral maxi dress! I picked this little beauty up in H&M, figuring that it would be perfect for my holiday and I am totally in love with the print and colours- you really can't go wrong with neon floral print! Maxi lengths are a favourite of mine at the moment and they are perfect for this weird transitioning weather we are having at the moment too...

Dress: H&M, jacket: Principles, belt: vintage, shoes:New Look, bag: Miss Selfridge
The one issue I have though is the length, I know it's a maxi dress but this dress was literally sweeping the floor [niiice] before I tied it up at the bottom. I'm hoping I can persuade my mum to shorten it for me as I am pretty lethal with a pair of scissors as I just don't know when to stop chopping (as many dodgy fringes will  testify!)

The colours on this were a perfect match for my blue shoes and belt, lovely accessories that are often passed over for something less challenging (i.e. nude or black shoes!) I love it when an outfit comes together and this one made me feel elegant and apparently I even looked taller, no bad thing in my book! I also painted my toenails for the first time in about 2 months and the hot pink shade was the perfect complement to the dress. I will definitely be taking this away with me...I have the most perfect black floppy hat to pair it with too!

Even my hair seemed to behave! I am sad to announce though that my beloved bag has in fact died. The clasp broke less than a week after I bought it and needless to say, I was not impressed! I didn't repurchase it as I didn't want it to happen again but rather put the money towards something else * which I am very excited about sharing with you!

This rather lovely card popped through my letter box not long ago from my lovely housemate Lisa. I have finished uni with a 2.2 (I was SO gutted to be 1.25 marks off a 2.1!) and this post marks the last photos taken by my beloved brick wall. I have had a fantastic time at uni despite my many health problems and although I am slightly disappointed with myself I am optimistic about the future :)

Do you have any summer essentials? How do you cope with disappointment?

* This something else is a rather  lovely sale purchase from none other than Topshop...see if you can guess which dress it is!

Garra Rufa fish treatment at Spa Balik

Today Yu, Danni, Lisa and I went to try out the Garra Rufa fish treatment at a local spa as a way to celebrate and relax now that it's getting towards the end of term. I have heard wonderful things about these treatments and despite being a little bit nervous I was really looking forward to it. The spa was really nicely decorated and smelt amazing and the atmosphere was really relaxing. The lady in the spa was also really nice and friendly and made me feel a lot less nervous about it all!

Lisa and Danni
When I first put my feet in the tank I was completely freaked out- The feeling of all these little fish was very tickly and I pulled my feet out straight away. Luckily, when I put my feet back in, I soon got used to it and began to relax as the little critters nibbled away at the dead skin on my feet and legs.

After a 15 minute treatment, I pulled my feet out of the tank and dried them off before applying a peppermint and lemongrass moisturiser. After doing a bit of shopping (pictures of my purchases at some point this week!) I came home expecting to unveil completely dry skin free feet. Unfortunately whilst my toes seemed to have less dry skin, there appeared to be very little noticeable difference to the rest of my feet.  I guess if you went on a more regular basis it would have more of an effect but I don't know if I would. Saying that, it was very relaxing and it was nice to take the weight off my feet for a while and I think if you went for a couple of sessions you would start to see a difference.

Would you ever try this out? How do you look after your feet?

This week has been...owl-coholic

I am Maria and I am an owl-coholic.* I love the little critters and I have a vast collection of owl prints. I added to this when I made an order at Dainty Roses last week. Mark treated me to this gorgeous necklace and also added in a lovely brooch to my order. I love the fact that it has a watch in its tummy too which is revealed when you squeeze his ears together... absolutely amazing!

Cute AND practical!

Mark chose me another owl, a key and a teapot (due to my well-documented love of tea!) I am already eyeing up some more charms so a bracelet or another brooch is definitely in my future! **

Now Danni, Lisa and I have been talking about getting a hip-flask for ages now and I finally caved and treated myself to this cute little flask as a post exam treat (or for if revision goes really badly! :P )

At the moment I have over 6 varieties of tea in the house and these Teapig teabags are the newest additions to my collection. I thought the chocolate flavoured tea would be my favourite but I prefer the honey bush and rooibos which is really yummy! I like the fact that it is decaffeinated too as it makes getting to sleep much easier and I'm pretty sure my skin has improved too...

I'm hoping this rather scary looking face mask will also help. I'm not patient enough to leave face masks on for very long but I this one peels off making it a lot less messy and hopefully easier to use!

* Apologies for this appalling pun but I just couldn't resist! ;)
** I realise that this sounds like an advert for Dainty Roses but Mark bought this with his own money and we would both definitely recommend this!

This week has been...tea-tastic!

I think liking tea has become a bit of a blogger cliché, along with liking cupcakes, peter pan collars and whimsical vintage prints. I do have the obligatory 'Keep calm...' poster but I genuinely do love tea.. [maybe not as much as Hayley though!] I drink gallons of the stuff when I am at uni (more if I am working to a deadline!) and I like to have pretty mugs to keep my tea in. Last year for Easter, Mark bought me a hand-painted Whittards mug with an Easter egg in the top. When I went to Swindon designer outlet, my first port of call was the Whittards shop and I spotted this little lovely. I am a sucker for anything with a cute print and this mug was no exception!

I should stay straight off that I am a strong brew, milk, no sugar kind of gal but I have always been curious about more exotic forms of tea. My housemate Lisa has this tea and it always smells amazing so I am excited to try it out! The main reason I picked this up though was the cup, isn't the pattern just amazing?!

I also received some free tea from Clipper after seeing Lucy's fab post alerting me to the opportunity. I have been a fan of Clipper since my mum bought me some of their tea for uni but I  never tried green tea so I am looking forward to trying that!

I swear, barbeques with my family are the nicest way to spend sunny weekends! Some gorgeous burgers and sausages from a local farmers market, caramelised onion cooked on the barbeque and Fab lollies for pudding. There really is nothing better!

Our garden looks so pretty at the moment, these ragged edges tulips are everywhere!

I will leave you with a sneak peek of an outfit post I have planned :)

What have you been up to this week? How do you spend your weekends?

P.S. I have rediscovered my love for Tumblr and would love to see yours :)

This week has been... little luxuries

This week, I have been baking lots of yummy food including some rather scrummy Malteaser cupcakes and my old favourites; sultana, cherry, almond and Amaretto cupcakes! I swear there is nothing better than the smell of cake when you're hungry! :)
Lisa's card!
Mark made some cards for Lisa and Danni's birthdays, I wish I was half as artistic!
Danni's card!
I finally received my post which our local depot seems to have been hoarding! There were so many parcels which they had there which they hadn't delivered or even left a slip for, needless to say, I was excited to receive my giveaway winnings from the gorgeous Laura! :D

Unfortunately, this week has also been full of dissertation work....

....some more interesting than others! For the final chapter of my dissertation, I am looking at films that parody the ancient world and the 'epic tradition' meaning that 'Carry on Cleo' and 'The Life of Brian' are compulsory viewing...

I finally  saw the latest Harry Potter film, normally I go with my brother but this time the release just seemed to have passed me by, luckily Warwick Student Cinema has really good film schedules, I am already excited about next terms!

I went to a jumble sale this weekend and picked myself up a few bargains, I think this little lot (along with another couple of books and mugs) came to under £2!

Mysterious object of the week
When we bought this  the other day (from H&M nonetheless!) I thought it was a dinosaur because of his little arms but other people think it's a squirrel because of the tail, what do you guys think? It actually has a reusable shopper bag inside but we bought it for it's cute factor :)

A little reminder of why I love Mark, who could refuse dark chocolate digestives after a long day of lectures? :D

What have you done this week? Do you have deadlines looming?

P.S. Thank you for all of your thoughts on my last post! I think I am going to have it shortened slightly and then I will definitely wear it more :)

This week has been...

I know I say this every week but man doesn't time fly by! I think it's because of looming deadlines and the fact that I have been missing home but I have been spending a LOT of time  on the BBC food website, seriously, I swear it's porn for foodies! So far I have made blueberry muffins, lemon muffins and a slightly adapted version of these spicy potatoes this week...

I made ginger cookies the other week and I swear they were perfect, slightly crunchy but chewy in the middle, I used this recipe by Jamie Oliver but added some crystallised ginger to give them a bit of a kick :) Being a girl guide, I was prepared and froze some to eat when essay despair kicked in and boy am I glad I did!

I swear the only thing that gets me through essays is coffee... flat white from Costa is my tipple of choice, I just wish you could get them in the BIG cups, I love the little ears :P

...reading for my essay and my dissertation. I always find my essays really interesting but they can be such a pain to research, I have to try really hard not to go off on a tangent and waffle too much...oops!

Luckily I have some books to keep me occupied; I have the original How to walk in high heels and loved reading it so when I saw this in the charity shop, I snapped it up! The New York Trilogy is on loan from my friend George and I'm looking forward to sitting down with a cup of tea and getting stuck into it...

Dainty Doll blusher in Gold Finger, lipstick in Saucy Sailor and Nails Inc. for Diet Coke in Milan
ASOS next day delivery is very difficult to resist ;) After my last post asking if anyone had tried the Dainty Doll range, I saw that it was reduced on ASOS and decided to try the lipstick and blusher. So far I have been super impressed, the lipstick colour is lovely and super moisturising and the blusher has a lovely colour pay-off. I paired my new make up with my gorgeous Falke fishnet tights and my lovely dress to go to the pub yesterday.

And finally, not a glamourous addition, but a necessary one! I have been under the weather for ages now and need some T.L.C and a hug from my Dad I think :) Luckily I have Danni and Lisa's birthdays to look forward to and we are going out tomorrow so that should be AMAZING! :D

What have you done this week? Got anything fun planned?

Guess what, I'm not a robot...

I love when you find a bargain in a charity shop, it can really make my day and the fact that the money is going to a good cause makes me feel less guilty about spending it! I spotted this cute robot t-shirt hidden amongst some rather questionable jumpers, proof that having a rummage is always a good idea!

Top: New Look via charity shop, skirt: Dorothy Perkins, blazer: Tesco, socks: Marks and Spencers, shoeboots: Next, bag: c/o Fiona and Siren.

I love all of the different robots, aren't they just gorgeous?! I felt quite a lot like a schoolgirl in this outfit, I think it was the grey blazer/sock combo?

I won this bag in a giveaway over at Fiona's wonderful blog and whilst it is not something I would ever choose for myself, I absolutely love it! It makes me feel a bit cooler (definitely no bad thing!) and adds a "delightfully tacky" element to my outfits. I really love some of the stuff on Siren's website, this gorgeous purple suede bag WILL be mine! :)

Also seen here with an outfit that I really loved but didn't photograph well; a gorgeous vintage green 'wiggle' dress and mulberry tights, leaving me looking like a cross between Joan Holloway and Laura! Not a bad combination AT.ALL.

Dress: vintage, tights: John Lewis, coat: c/o Tesco, shoes: Tesco, bag: New Look, belt: Primark

Back to the grind of essay and dissertation writing...luckily I have Danni and Lisa's birthdays to look forward to in the next few days :D I need to put on my dancing shoes and go and party! :D

Have you found any bargains recently?

P.S. Keep a look out for some exciting new features, coming soon! :D
